Hostage Square
If you recall, this morning (EONS ago) we had hopes that Blinken’s trip would lead to an end to the fighting and a plan to return the hostages as well as begin rebuilding in Gaza. We were told by our guide Y, king of improv, that there might be mass protests at Hostage Square, or it might be quiet. But we were on our way to witness, to be in solidarity, and to Hope.
The square is located across the street from government military buildings similar to the Pentagon. When we arrived, it was eerily quiet. I am going to share the myriad of photos we took as we walked silently around the square, noting all of the art installations dedicated to peace and rescuing the hostages. There is also video capturing the experience of October 7th. It is a political space, a solidarity space, a space for remembrance, and a space for hope.
